Volunteer Update

Meet our newest volunteer, Leah Unwin. Leah first came to the Kraal as an Elephantstayer and loved it so much she is back as a volunteer for 12 weeks as the Program Development Officer, helping Ewa in the office. Jumbo welcome back Leah!

Elephant Football - World Cup 2014

In celebration of the World Cup 2014 some of the elephants went to play football against a local school. Even though Thailand are not in the competition, events like this are important to keep the Asian elephant visible in the public domain and so people can learn more about the plight of these creatures.

Second Anniversary of the King's visit

Today Elephants, Mahouts and Elephantstay guests were all part of celebrating the second anniversary of the King's visit to Ayutthaya.

Baby Number 58 - Pootson Gives Birth!

It is with great pleasure that we announce the birth of Pang Pootson's 4th little girl. She was born at 3am, this day, 14th May 2014. She is the 58th successful baby elephant born at the Royal Elephant Kraal.

Filming King Naresuan

Today the Kraal was transformed into a movie set with filming taking place of the next instalment of King Naresuan. The elephants and mahouts were dressed in all their finery ready to film some battle scenes. It gives you a real sense of the power of these animals and the important role they played in Thailands history.

Songkran!!

Sawadee Pi Mai - Happy new year!! 

Songkran has to be experienced to be believed. The colours, sights, sounds, smells and of course water make for an amazing atmosphere. On April 9th the Elestayers went in to town to be filmed by the worlds media water fighting with the elephants and then again on the 12th. The offical Songkran day and the parade with a full day of water fighting is April 13th.
